Here’s what’s happening this week:
Conferences – Please sign up for Parent Conferences the week of 10/24-10/27. You can schedule here! I’m looking forward to meeting with every one of you and sharing your child’s successes and goals for the rest of this year! Field Trip – 2nd Grade will be heading to the West Van Recovery Center (an important part of our community) to learn about garbage and recycling processing on Friday, October 21st. This field trip is outside so you must wear closed toe shoes and dress for the weather!
Walking Field Trip – On Thursday, we will be heading up to CHS to learn about the properties of water with our high school mentors. Please dress for the weather! J
Reading – This week, we are using illustrations and words to understand the characters.
Math – The emphasis on math this week is finding the difference (the answer to a subtraction problem) and using CUB to help us solve story problems.
Science – We are now observing and recording the properties of liquids.
Spelling – Spelling list 5 went home last Friday and the test for those words will be on Friday 10/21/16. You can get extra practice by going to https://www.spellingcity.com/knorgard/. This list includes sight words, -ight pattern words, and academic vocabulary.
Box Tops – Keep sending in your box tops and labels for education! J
Human Carwash – Join us if you can for the Human Carwash at 2:45 on Friday 10/21 at the upper track play area. Students that earned $75 or more for the Sport-a-Thon will be dousing their favorite teachers with water! If you are one of those students please bring a manageable size bucket to use. Please email me if you have any questions. J Thank you to everyone that helped to support this event! It was a HUGE success and we are so grateful for your support!!!
